Heathrow Terminal 5 parking at a glance
The main T5 decision is how you want to reach the terminal. You can walk from Terminal Parking, ride a bus from Park & Ride or Priority Park & Ride, take a driverless Pod, or hand the car to a parking operator. These are different services, not interchangeable names for the same parking space.
Heathrow now calls its former Short Stay product Terminal Parking, Long Stay Park & Ride, and Business Parking Priority Park & Ride. Road signs and older confirmations may retain the former names. Match both the terminal and the product before following a satnav.
| Option | Reaching T5 | Most useful for | Important trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Terminal Parking, formerly Short Stay | Short covered walk | Pick-ups, short visits, travellers avoiding a shuttle | Drive-up tariffs can make a long visit expensive |
| Park & Ride, formerly Long Stay | Free shuttle; allow waiting and loading time | Travellers comparing longer-stay costs | You need time for the bus in both directions |
| Priority Park & Ride, formerly Business | On-demand shuttle | Travellers wanting the T5 priority-transfer product | Not the same car park as standard Park & Ride |
| Pod Parking | Driverless electric Pod; official guide states six minutes | Travellers wanting self-parking without a conventional bus | T5-specific product; check luggage and accessibility needs |
| Meet & Greet | Vehicle handover in the specified parking area | Travellers happy to leave their keys | Follow the operator’s exact meeting instructions |
| Valet | Official service uses terminal forecourt handover | Travellers prioritising minimal vehicle-to-terminal handling | A handover service, not an ordinary parking bay |
The official T5 page describes Terminal Parking as a two-minute walk, while Heathrow’s directions page allows approximately five minutes. Treat these as indicative walking times, not a promise from every bay. Add time for finding a space, unloading and reaching the appropriate floor.
Terminal 5 Terminal Parking: the former Short Stay
Terminal Parking is beside T5 and connected by covered walkways. It is the straightforward choice when you want to park, keep the keys and walk into the building. It can suit collecting someone inside arrivals or a short work trip where a bus transfer is not attractive.
The postcode is TW6 2GA. Follow signs for Terminal 5 and the car park named on the booking; reaching the airport postcode alone does not mean you have reached the right entrance. Check the height limit before travelling with a roof box, adapted vehicle or van.
Terminal Parking price check
Heathrow’s T5 page listed the following drive-up bands on 3 November 2026. These are not pre-booked holiday-parking quotes, and must be rechecked before publication and travel.
| Drive-up duration | Published T5 tariff at the review date |
|---|---|
| 0–29 minutes | £8.50 |
| 30–44 minutes | £12.50 |
| 45–59 minutes | £16.00 |
A flight arrival time is not the same as the time the passenger will reach the car park. Immigration, baggage reclaim and walking can move a collection into another charging band. Compare a booked stay rather than multiplying one of these short-visit rates into a weekly estimate.
Terminal 5 Park & Ride: the former Long Stay
The T5 Park & Ride address is Northern Perimeter Road, TW6 2RL. You park the vehicle and use a free shuttle rather than walking from a terminal-adjacent multi-storey. Heathrow describes transfers of around 15 minutes on its terminal page; some product information gives a shorter in-vehicle journey. Your total transfer allowance must also include waiting, luggage and walking from the stop.
For a longer holiday, compare the total for your actual entry and exit times with the other T5 options. A lower parking quote is less useful if a late return, limited flexibility or unsuitable transfer creates another cost. Check whether your product lets you keep the keys and what happens after a delayed flight.
The free short-visit concession is a separate drive-up arrangement, not a free holiday-parking offer. Heathrow’s passenger pick-up page currently states the first 29 minutes are free, although other official wording still says “up to 30 minutes”. Use the stricter 29-minute limit and check the signs on arrival.
Terminal 5 Priority Park & Ride: the former Business Parking
T5 retains Priority Park & Ride. Do not confuse this with the shared T2/T3 Priority facility, which Heathrow’s dedicated product page currently says is closed to passengers.
The service uses a business-class shuttle rather than a Pod. Compare the actual product description, operating arrangements and total price; “Priority” does not mean you can ignore check-in deadlines or arrive at the gate later.
Heathrow’s pages do not currently give a consistent T5 Priority postcode. Use the directions in your booking and the official car-park map rather than choosing between conflicting postcodes from an old guide. Confirm any special vehicle or assistance requirement before booking.
Terminal 5 Pod Parking
Pod Parking is a separate self-parking option at T5, with driverless electric vehicles connecting the car park to the terminal. Heathrow states an approximately six-minute Pod journey. The site postcode is TW6 2GX, not the Terminal Parking postcode.
This option is worth comparing if you like the idea of keeping the car in a self-park facility without using a conventional shuttle bus. Consider the whole party: children, pushchairs, large suitcases and mobility equipment must all fit the operating arrangements.
Check current service information and instructions for any disruption before travelling. A quoted Pod journey is not your full time from the motorway to airline check-in. Allow for parking, unloading, reaching the station and walking inside the terminal.
Meet & Greet versus Valet at T5
Official Heathrow Meet & Greet uses a designated reception in Terminal Parking. Official Valet uses a forecourt reception. Both involve leaving the keys, but the arrival and collection locations differ. Third-party operators may use other arrangements.
Do not follow a generic “meet and greet” address from another company’s instructions. Keep the confirmation available, check when you must call, and ask where the vehicle is stored and whether it can be moved. Photograph the vehicle if that is part of your own handover checks, and keep valuables with you.
Our existing Terminal 5 valet guide focuses on that handover decision. This broader guide compares the full T5 choice, including the Pod and self-parking products.
T5 directions and postcodes
| Product | Address or routing reference |
|---|---|
| Terminal Parking / official terminal handover | Terminal 5, Wallis Road, TW6 2GA; use the specified reception |
| Standard Park & Ride | Northern Perimeter Road, TW6 2RL |
| Pod Parking | Northern Perimeter Road, TW6 2GX |
| Priority Park & Ride | Follow your current confirmation and Heathrow’s official directions |
| Independent off-site service | Use that operator’s address, not a Heathrow terminal postcode |
From the M25, Heathrow’s T5 directions use Junction 14; from the M4 they use Junction 4 and the airport perimeter roads. These routes branch for different car parks. Follow the product’s current approach signs, not just “Terminal 5”.
Dropping off and picking up at T5
Ordinary pick-ups are not permitted on the terminal forecourt. To meet someone inside, use the appropriate Terminal Parking arrangement. A lower-cost alternative is a short drive-up visit to Park & Ride, where the passenger uses the shuttle; the free period runs while you are in the car park, including waiting.
Terminal drop-off is separately charged and has its own payment and exemption rules. Do not assume a parking payment covers a forecourt visit, or that entering a drop-off lane allows you to wait for an arriving passenger.
Accessibility and Blue Badge parking
Heathrow lists accessible bays across T5’s official car parks. Terminal Parking has bays near access points; Park & Ride and Priority facilities place accessible spaces near bus stops, and Pod Parking has bays near Pod Station A.
A Blue Badge bay and a free-parking entitlement are different things. Check the concession for the actual service, along with vehicle height, lift access, shuttle or Pod suitability and the assistance process. Arrange airline special assistance separately; parking close to the building does not book it.
Which T5 option is best for your trip?
| Your main priority | Start by comparing | Check before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Meet a passenger inside arrivals | Terminal Parking | Likely waiting duration and drive-up tariff |
| Lower total for a longer trip | Park & Ride and available off-site quotes | Transfer and delayed-return terms |
| Keep your keys without a normal bus | Pod Parking | Service suitability for your party |
| Reduce luggage handling | Meet & Greet or Valet | Exact handover point and storage operator |
| Use the T5 priority-shuttle service | Priority Park & Ride | Current directions and service details |
Practical ways to avoid an expensive mistake
- Check both flight terminals; a return-terminal change can affect collection.
- Save the product name and entrance instructions before driving.
- Compare the payable total and cancellation terms, not a percentage saving.
- Build a margin around shuttle or handover procedures.
- Check the operator’s delayed-flight contact process.
- Keep a note of your bay, level or bus stop for the return.
Heathrow Terminal 5 parking FAQs
Is T5 Short Stay still available?
The official short-stay product is now called Terminal Parking. You may still see Short Stay on older signs or confirmations. Check that the product is for T5.
Does Terminal 5 have Pod Parking?
Yes. Heathrow lists T5 Pod Parking as a distinct product, with an approximately six-minute Pod journey and its own car park entrance.
Can I pick someone up from the T5 forecourt?
Not as an ordinary passenger pick-up. Heathrow directs collections to parking facilities rather than the terminal forecourt.
Is Park & Ride free for a quick T5 collection?
The passenger pick-up page states the first 29 minutes are free for a drive-up Park & Ride visit. Check current terms and allow for the passenger’s shuttle journey; staying longer incurs charges.
Is T5 Business Parking the same as Pod Parking?
No. The former Business product is Priority Park & Ride and uses a shuttle. Pod Parking uses driverless Pods from a different site.
Is a pre-booked quote the same as the drive-up tariff?
No. The duration, product and cancellation terms matter. Compare a fresh quote for your exact entry and return times.
What is the best postcode for T5 parking?
There is no single postcode for every T5 product. Terminal Parking uses TW6 2GA, standard Park & Ride TW6 2RL and Pod Parking TW6 2GX. Follow your confirmation.
What if I booked the wrong terminal?
Contact the seller or operator before travel. Do not assume a booking will be accepted at another car park or terminal without amendment.
